Depression cases in Pakistan
In Pakistan its frequency is ranging from 20% to 55%. In Pakistan depression is more common in women as compared to men . Burden , responsibilities and toxic partners are the common reasons for depression.
About 9.8% people attempted suicide in 2022 and according to data it’s increasing every year.
Depression in students: This generation is suffering from depression more than the older one. According to a recent study 55% of medical students are suffering from depression.
This is due to following reason : Pressure of studies, no time management, anxiety to get fail and also because of toxic culture in medical universities. There is no proper counselling for students and also teen-agers (15-19) are suffering from depression because of no proper guidance. Social media is influencing our life’s day by day but that doesn’t mean life relies on it .
If someone is successful in social media that doesn’t mean they are successful in real life too.

According to a National health report , almost 20 million people in Pakistan are suffering from mental disorders. Many of them don’t even seek support from therapist or any other health specialist that can result in suicide and self harm.

Connect with your healthy friend group , talk with your parents, do self care and also invest your time and energy on your own self.
Almost one in four people in Pakistan are suffering from depression and many of them are suffering silently. Stigma and unawareness is a leading reason why they don’t seek professional help.
Many uneducated people think this disease is a kind of curse from God. This illiteracy is the leading reason why people don’t seek professional help. There should be proper advertisements or campaigns to educate these unlettered people. Many people don’t even need medicines for depression just through counselling they can recover from trauma.
