Location: United States Remote
About the Role:
Samsara is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to lead and build our enterprise security automation programs. You will design, operate, and maintain key security infrastructure while developing automated workflows that enhance our corporate security posture. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership and mentorship across a global team.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Samsara’s security automation initiatives and roadmap, balancing short-term and long-term priorities.
- Build security automation integrations using platforms like Tines, AWS Lambda, and serverless frameworks.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across enterprise applications such as GitHub, Crowdstrike, Splunk, and MDM systems.
- Develop custom Terraform providers for platforms lacking existing integrations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain key security systems and respond to escalations.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in automation, security best practices, and communication.
- Embed Samsara’s cultural principles of customer focus, long-term thinking, growth mindset, inclusivity, and teamwork across projects.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant experience in enterprise security, including 2+ years in security engineering roles.
- Proficiency with security automation platforms (e.g., Tines) and serverless frameworks (e.g., AWS Lambda).
- Extensive experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code in enterprise environments.
- Strong development skills in Python or Go.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience building custom Terraform providers and integrating with third-party APIs.
- Advanced certifications in Tines or AWS Lambda.
- Hands-on experience with zero trust, least privilege, just-in-time access, identity lifecycle management, and data loss prevention.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise security automation programs.
- Experience mentoring engineers and guiding security best practices.
