Role Overview
We’re seeking a sharp, systems-savvy Senior Accounting & Data Analyst to join our AMG Retirement Plans finance team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in complex environments, takes ownership of outcomes, and brings clarity to ambiguity. You will serve as the vital connection between Finance, IT, and data systems, ensuring financial reporting accuracy and smooth integration of a major reinsurance acquisition.
What You’ll Do
Acquisition Integration & Financial Analysis
- Lead financial integration efforts for a complex reinsurance acquisition and provide ongoing support.
- Reconcile data across multiple source systems and general ledgers (Workday and SAP). Identify variances, perform root cause analysis, and process adjusting journal entries.
- Partner with Senior Management to ensure timely monthly closes, intercompany reporting, and data integrity.
Process Optimization & Transformation
- Evaluate existing finance processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Finance and IT teams to design and implement innovative solutions. Champion change management across departments.
Data Flow & Systems Expertise
- Develop deep expertise in financial data flows from source systems to the general ledger.
- Document data flow processes and reconciliation procedures to maintain accuracy and transparency.
- Work cross-functionally to solve complex data challenges affecting financial reporting.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, including hands-on work with reconciliations, controls, and financial close processes.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and general ledger management; STAT accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Workday and SAP; strong Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL skills highly preferred.
Key Skills & Behaviors
- Exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex ideas clearly across Finance and IT.
- Collaborative and trusted team player who drives alignment and shared outcomes.
- Proactive “builder’s mentality” focused on process improvement and operational excellence.
- Creative problem solver with a “detective’s mindset” digs deep into data and finds solutions.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity with confidence and agility.
Why Work at The Standard?
- Competitive salary range with annual incentive bonus plan.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with matching contributions.
- Generous paid time off: 11 holidays, 2 wellness days, and 8 volunteer hours annually, with PTO increasing based on tenure.
- Supportive management and clear opportunities for career growth.
- Paid parental leave and adoption/surrogacy assistance.
- Employee giving program with donation matching.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring and workplace culture.
