Principal Software Engineer Core Pricing

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical direction for a core pricing platform that directly impacts revenue and monetization across multiple product lines.

In this role, you’ll design scalable backend services in Python, collaborate with Machine Learning (ML), product, and finance teams, and influence strategic decisions using data-driven insights. It’s a hands-on, high-impact role for a technical leader with a strong business sense.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems in Python to support dynamic pricing and revenue models.
• Collaborate with ML, product, and capital teams to optimize pricing through experimentation and automation.
• Architect reusable pricing services to support multiple business units.
• Mentor engineering teams while maintaining high code quality and architecture standards.
• Translate business objectives into technical solutions with measurable results.
• Analyze experimentation data to assess impact on revenue and user growth.
• Ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and built for rapid growth (without needing to take on DevOps duties).

Education & Experience Requirements

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
• Experience:
• 10+ years in professional software engineering roles.
• Previous experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Tech Lead.
• Proven experience with distributed backend systems in Python (or similar).
• Track record of aligning engineering projects with revenue or monetization goals.
• Experience with A/B testing, experimentation platforms, and interpreting data from product experiments.
• Preferred Background:
• Fintech, e-commerce, or industries with complex pricing strategies.
• Knowledge of pricing engines, financial modeling, or revenue optimization frameworks.
• Familiarity with ML models, fee optimization, or capital markets.
