About the Team & Role
At CVS Health, we’re transforming healthcare through data-driven intelligence. Our Medical Economics team helps shape decisions about care, cost, and outcomes using analytics, automation, and technical innovation.
As Manager, Application Development, you’ll lead and build tools, models, and pipelines that provide deep insights in the health/clinical domain. You’ll partner with business, clinical, and tech teams to turn complex problems into practical, scalable solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze healthcare cost and utilization data to interpret trends and support strategy
- Build automated reporting tools & dashboards (Python, SQL, cloud)
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and reusable code libraries
- Support predictive modeling and statistical analysis (e.g. provider efficiency, member outcomes)
- Translate business needs into analytical solutions, working cross-functionally with actuaries, clinicians, and business leaders
- Ensure data integrity, perform data validation and troubleshooting across sources
- Present insights via visualizations, reports, and presentations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Stay current with emerging tools (e.g. AI/ML, automation frameworks) and incorporate them into analytics workflows
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Python (data manipulation, automation, modeling)
- Strong SQL skills for large dataset querying
- Experience working with pandas, NumPy, etc.
- Cloud experience (e.g. Google Cloud) and building data pipelines
- Visualization / dashboard tools (Power BI, Plotly, Dash, ThoughtSpot, etc.)
- Version control (e.g. Git)
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow)
Business & Domain Skills
- Ability to translate complex business questions into analytical approaches
- Communication skills: present complex results clearly to mixed audiences
- Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (clinical, business, tech)
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Understanding of healthcare domain: claims data, utilization, cost drivers, value-based care
- Experience with machine learning, generative AI in analytics workflows
- Familiarity with BigQuery, DB2, SQL Server
- Experience with .NET, version control platforms (GitLab, GitHub)
- 3+ years in healthcare, consulting, or analytical roles
Education & Career Examples
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field. Master’s is a plus.
- Experience example:
- Senior Data Engineer working on healthcare claims pipelines
- Analytics lead at a health services / insurance provider
- Technical manager for a healthcare startup building predictive models
