About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and troubleshooting diagnostic systems used in hospitals, research labs, and clinics. This is a remote position serving the Cincinnati / Dayton area, where you’ll provide hands-on service, build relationships with healthcare providers, and ensure high uptime for life-saving equipment.

You’ll join a collaborative Field Service Team, report to the Field Service Manager, and work with chemistry, immunoassay, and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently install, maintain, and repair Beckman Coulter diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, system troubleshooting, and technical support.
  • Provide excellent and efficient customer service and train end-users as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service logs and internal records.
  • Use business tools like OBI, Salesforce, and SharePoint to plan service calls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet service goals.
  • Mentor and train newer Field Service Engineers when required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, military training, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, robotics, or electronic equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region and occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of advanced troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Experience installing, validating, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation.
  • Background in biomedical engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with regulated lab environments or healthcare systems.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent military technical training).
  • 1–3 years of hands-on field service experience in medical devices or diagnostics.
  • Experience working with clinical laboratory equipment is a strong plus
