Role Overview

Kobo is looking for a passionate and entrepreneurial Director of Philanthropy & Development to lead and expand its fundraising efforts globally. You will play a key role in securing resources to advance Kobo’s mission by developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, building partnerships, managing donor relations, and driving multi-channel campaigns.

This is a fully remote role based in the United States with occasional travel (~10%) to support donor engagement and events.

What You’ll Do

• Fundraising Strategy: Lead and execute a diverse fundraising program focused on grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors to reach a $5 million annual target.
• Partnership Development: Build and nurture strategic relationships with corporations, foundations, and family offices.
• Donor Stewardship: Maintain strong donor communications, recognition, and engagement to foster long-term support.
• Campaign Management: Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns that raise awareness and generate funds for Kobo’s projects.
• Grant Writing: Identify grant opportunities and write compelling proposals to secure funding.
• Impact Reporting: Communicate donor impact with clear reports showcasing the outcomes their support enables.
• Networking & Outreach: Represent Kobo at conferences and relevant events to grow Kobo’s donor base.
• Data Management: Track donor interactions and fundraising activities using CRM tools (e.g., Hubspot).

What You Bring

• Experience: 8+ years in nonprofit fundraising with a proven record of securing major gifts ($10,000+), foundation grants, and corporate partnerships.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding and passion for humanitarian, development, and data-driven social impact sectors.
• Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities to engage diverse audiences and donors effectively.
• Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with fundraising software and CRM systems.
• Passion: Strong dedication to creating positive global impact through innovative tools and partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with the technology sector.
• Knowledge of humanitarian and international development landscapes, especially data collection in low-resource settings.
• Multilingual skills (French, Spanish, Arabic) are a plus.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, International Development, or a related field.
• Advanced degree (Master’s preferred) in Philanthropy, Social Impact, or Public Administration is a plus.
