About the Role

Join Cox Automotive’s Manheim mobile inspections team as a Mobile Vehicle Inspector II. In this role, you'll perform detailed vehicle condition inspections on clients' lots, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of each vehicle's condition. Your expertise will help build trust with clients, drive more business, and support the quality of the Manheim Marketplace.

This position offers flexibility to work independently with minimal supervision, perfect for detail-oriented individuals passionate about vehicles and client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections covering exterior, interior, mechanical, and safety components.
  • Safely locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer lots.
  • Verify and enter accurate vehicle information including VIN, mileage, and sub-series details.
  • Document vehicle damage, missing items, and overall condition using handheld devices.
  • Perform basic mechanical checks such as powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and communicate with management.
  • Engage proactively with clients to encourage more inspection opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Manheim teams to maintain high-quality service and client satisfaction.
  • Follow safety protocols and demonstrate commitment to a safe work environment.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional automotive training or certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in vehicle inspections or automotive-related roles preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive body, paint, and mechanical systems is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with vehicle frame and structural damage inspection a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel within the designated region.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members.
  • Proficient with handheld inspection devices and technology.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs, crouch, bend, kneel, and work in varied lighting conditions.
