About the Role
TD Bank is seeking an experienced Governance & Control Specialist to manage governance and control activities for complex or high-risk business areas. You will lead initiatives to implement policies, verify data quality, and create meaningful metrics to ensure compliance and risk management within TD’s first line Governance & Control department.
What You’ll Do
- Manage governance and control processes for moderately complex or high-risk business functions.
- Develop and implement data quality verification processes and associated performance metrics.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects, providing subject matter expertise in risk and control strategies.
- Identify risks, recommend improvements, and support implementation of governance policies.
- Collaborate across teams to standardize controls and improve compliance frameworks.
- Provide guidance on regulatory impact assessments and control mapping.
- Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to team skill development.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior leadership on governance matters.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
- Minimum of 7 years in governance, risk management, or control functions within financial services.
- Advanced understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and control procedures.
- Strong analytical skills, experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., MS Office, Merlin, Archer).
- Experience with ILED (Internal Lending and Enterprise Data) and data quality initiatives is highly valued.
- Proven ability to lead projects, manage complex programs, and influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
