Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers in person or over the phone with U-Haul products and services.
  • Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to dispatch and return rental equipment.
  • Move, hook up, clean, and inspect U-Haul trucks and trailers.
  • Check and maintain equipment fluid levels and general condition.
  • Prepare rental invoices and handle returns.
  • Educate customers about rental policies, products, and services.
  • Install trailer hitches and wiring (training provided).
  • Fill propane and drive a forklift (certifications provided).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Complete ongoing U-Haul University training programs.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience preferred (retail, hospitality, or call center experience a plus).
  • Basic mechanical skills or willingness to learn equipment handling.
  • Comfortable using smartphones and basic technology

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and operate equipment.

Work Environment

  • May work around moving vehicles, machinery, or fumes.
  • Use of protective gear may be required (e.g., gloves, goggles, masks).
  • Involves indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or move for extended periods.
  • Lift or move at least 50 lbs., assisted or unassisted.
  • Position oneself to reach and access equipment safely.
