About the Role

Cloudflare is seeking a passionate Infrastructure Tooling Software Engineer to join our Resiliency Engineering team. You will help build and maintain the tools that manage Cloudflare’s global infrastructure at scale. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of systems that serve millions of websites and Internet applications worldwide.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, designing scalable systems, and learning continuously in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain Zinc, Cloudflare’s Rust-based internal infrastructure control application.
  • Optimize globally distributed systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Build APIs, CLIs, and web applications for internal infrastructure management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve tooling and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support production infrastructure.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex distributed systems to ensure high availability.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in infrastructure engineering, software development, or DevOps.
    • Proficiency in Rust, Go, Python, or similar programming languages.
    • Experience designing and building APIs, CLIs, or internal web applications.
    • Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale software infrastructure.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
