About the Role:
Sysco is seeking a highly skilled Director of Asset and Revenue Accounting to provide strategic direction and operational oversight for property accounting, lease accounting, truck leasing, and revenue accounting. This role ensures accurate reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage teams at Sysco Business Services (SBS), including virtual and global offshore staff.
- Provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters for property, lease, and revenue accounting.
- Oversee property acquisitions, transfers, retirements, and CIP monitoring, ensuring GAAP and tax compliance.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and lease accounting under ASC 842/IFRS 16.
- Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Market Finance, Legal, Treasury, Real Estate, and Procurement teams.
- Implement and maintain global accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
- Act as a liaison for internal and external audits.
- Deliver insights and analytics to senior management to support strategic decisions.
- Manage fleet accounting relationships and support lease vs buy decision-making processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA required).
- Experience: 7–10+ years of accounting experience, preferably including public accounting. Experience with Costar Real Estate Manager, Smartstream (GEAC), BPC, and Workday is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of property, lease, and revenue accounting.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
