Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Kotlin Software Developer to join Mindrift as a Freelance AI Trainer. In this unique role, you’ll use your technical expertise to help train and refine advanced AI models, ensuring they reason more effectively and produce accurate, high-quality responses to complex coding problems.
You’ll collaborate on innovative AI projects where your programming experience helps teach machines how to think like a developer.
What You’ll Do
Every project at Mindrift is different, but as an AI Tutor in Coding, you may:
- Craft and generate prompts that challenge AI reasoning.
- Design evaluation criteria to assess AI-generated code and explanations.
- Analyze, correct, and improve model responses using your deep Kotlin and JVM knowledge.
- Collaborate with other AI experts to refine and guide model behavior.
This freelance opportunity gives you the flexibility to work on your own schedule, from anywhere in the UK.
Education & Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- (Equivalent professional experience also considered.)
- Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on Kotlin development (Android or server-side).
- Solid understanding of the JVM ecosystem and Java interoperability.
- Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, and modern architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
- Skilled in coroutines, flows, and asynchronous programming.
- Familiarity with DI frameworks such as Dagger, Hilt, or Koin.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum workflows.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of secure coding practices (OWASP).
- Proficient in debugging, optimization, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
