Overview

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to join their team for a 14-week full-time assignment. This role is ideal for experienced respiratory care professionals who are adaptable, patient-focused, and enjoy working in a dynamic hospital environment.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide physician-directed respiratory care to patients of all ages, ranging from neonates to adults. You will collaborate closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal pulmonary management and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate respiratory care across clinical and ambulatory settings.
• Perform patient assessments and implement physician-directed respiratory interventions.
• Assist with ventilator management, airway care, and respiratory therapy procedures.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute care plans.

Education & Certification Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Non-degreed applicants with RRT credentials prior to Jan 1, 2006 or military RT graduates with RRT credentials will also be considered.
• State Respiratory Therapist License – Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
• RRT Certification – National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
• For new graduates: must obtain RRT credential within 6 months of hire.

Experience

• 1+ year of clinical respiratory care experience preferred, including ventilator management and patient assessment.
