About the Role
SMG Family Medicine Riverwalk in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Specialist to join Sentara Healthcare. In this role, you will provide vital non-clinical support in a physician’s office, ensuring patients receive the best care experience possible. Your primary responsibilities include answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Teamwork and collaboration are central to success here, with a supportive environment focused on delivering excellent healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming calls and patient scheduling efficiently.
- Provide timely, accurate responses to patient questions and concerns.
- Support patient care delivery through detailed administrative tasks.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare teams to enhance patient experience.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required; Associate Degree or higher is a plus and can substitute for experience.
- Minimum 3 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or related settings.
- At least 1 year experience working with health insurance plans, medical records, medical terminology, patient registration, scheduling, or third-party payers.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is preferred.
