About the Role

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Nursery and Mother Baby unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to mothers and newborns in the postpartum and nursery setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patients’ vital signs and overall health
• Assist in breastfeeding education and parental support
• Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and other medical staff to ensure the best care plan
• Administer medications and follow treatment protocols
• Educate and support families on postnatal and newborn care
• Uphold hospital standards, patient safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia (or compact state)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (NRP certification preferred)
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize patient care
• Excellent communication, empathy, and patient support skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Advanced certifications (e.g., NRP, ACLS) are a plus

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required (preferably in mother-baby, nursery, postpartum, or labor & delivery units)
• New graduates with relevant clinical experience are encouraged to apply
