About the Role

Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their Food Services Department. You will prepare hot foods for patient traylines, café service, and special functions, including entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items. This is a great opportunity for cooks with experience in restaurants or hospitals who want to grow their skills in a healthcare environment.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and cook a variety of hot foods ensuring quality and safety
• Support daily food service operations including patient meals and special events
• Follow all health and safety guidelines and maintain kitchen cleanliness
• Collaborate with team members to deliver excellent food service

Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Equivalent experience in cooking may substitute formal education

Experience:

• Less than 1 year of cooking experience required (preferably in food service or hospital settings)
• Experience working in fast-paced kitchens or hospital food service is a plus

Certifications:

• Food Handlers Card or Food Service Certification (as required by local Health Department)
