Role Overview
As a Major Loss Claims Adjuster at Kemper, you will manage complex and high-severity injury claims from investigation through resolution. This role demands sharp analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will handle claims involving significant liability, coverage challenges, and serious injuries, ensuring fair and timely settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle high complexity claims with large injury severity independently.
- Investigate claims thoroughly, identifying and resolving coverage and exposure issues.
- Communicate professionally with insureds, claimants, and internal teams.
- Conduct liability investigations and provide clear recommendations.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and settle bodily injury claims effectively.
- Provide detailed reports and updates to management.
- Collaborate with underwriting and other departments as needed.
- Manage workload efficiently, meeting deadlines amid interruptions.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in claims adjusting, specifically with bodily injury claims and large loss evaluations.
- Proven ability to handle coverage disputes, serious injury claims, and liability investigations.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Comfortable making decisions quickly and with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with injury evaluation tools and complex claims software.
- Previous work experience in insurance companies specializing in high-value claims.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
