Role Overview

Join MongoDB as a Software Engineer focused on Code Generation, where you'll build and optimize data structures, algorithms, and backend systems that power our generative AI platform. Your work will improve AI integration, performance, and scalability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Prior experience with AI isn’t required—strong fundamentals in computer science and system design are what matter most.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and optimize high-performance data structures and algorithms for AI orchestration
• Build efficient data pipelines and storage solutions to support AI model integration
• Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to meet data needs
• Identify and solve performance bottlenecks and architectural challenges
• Enhance platform features like data versioning, retrieval, and integrity for AI-generated code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical strategy
• Build robust backend services that orchestrate AI functions

Who You Are

• 2+ years of software engineering experience, especially in backend, distributed, or core platform systems
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system-level programming
• Proficient in languages like Java, Rust, C/C++, and/or Python
• Skilled at troubleshooting and optimizing system performance
• Experienced working collaboratively in dynamic teams
• Familiar with SQL (preferably Oracle) and database optimization
• Eager to learn and own complex problem spaces

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-native systems like Kubernetes, Kafka
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (we’ll help you learn MongoDB)
• Contributions to open-source projects

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated ability to apply computer science fundamentals in practical settings
• Prior experience working with backend or distributed systems preferred
