Pakistan reported 2 new cases and now the active cases for this year have reached 10. According to the national health report, cases are reported from KPK Province. According to reports the affected children were from the districts of laki marwat and bannu.
According to the government polio vaccination will again start from 26 may in 17 District’s which includes bannu and laki marwat , Swabi and torghar.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are the countries where the polio virus still exists. In 2024 record 71 cases of Polio virus were reported in Pakistan.
Polio virus: Polio virus usually affects the brain and spinal cord. It results in a condition where a person is unable to move its legs and limb. The virus has three stereotypes including type 1, 2 and 3. It’s a type of species of enterovirus C . It results in paralysis of the leg most commonly.
It can result in brain inflammation too. Major cities where polio virus was reported are Balochistan, KPK and Sindh. In 2025 till May 10 cases of polio virus will be reported in Pakistan. In 2014 the highest cases of polio virus in the world were reported in Pakistan. Right now according to data 45 million children are vaccinated and from 26 may vaccination of polio virus will begin again. 10 cases in Pakistan are from.

But still there is a lot to achieve, like there is a shortage of females, therefore it’s getting difficult to reach every child. According to reports in Laki Marwat, children have been unable to receive polio drops since April 2025 . 10 cases are reported in six months and if it continues there is a risk of more cases at the end of year.
Unfortunately Pakistan is still among the two countries that are suffering from polio cases every year. There is limited education about polio virus among people. In 2013 polio staff was targeted by people and few were killed.
