Alzheimer’s disease: It is a memory loss disease that cause the brain cells to get sick and eventually they die. According to new scientists discovery DNA repair and other cellular functions can contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s.
ABCA1 gene:
●Play a crucial role in lipid homeostasis.
●Producing HDL cholestrol in brain , which helps remove excess cholesterol from cells .
●It is higly expressed in immune cells like macrophages etc.
esearch: Increase oxysterol (oxidised form of cholestrol ) levels cause ABCA1 to become trapped , and it’s main function is to prevent healthy HDL production. Through cyclodextrin ( produced from strach, that form insulin complexes) elevated oxysterol levels can be reduce and through this ABCA1 can restore the path to it’s healthy state.
This discovery provides a new approach to treat Alzheimer’s disease at a very early stage. Working with researcher’s at Harvard university medical school data was studied from human and fruit flies to identify neurodegeneration .

DNA damage repair is linked with two genes called NOTCH1 and CSNK2A1. These genes were linked with Alzheimer’s disease before but not in the context of DNA repair. According to new research when these two genes starts missing DNA damage build up within cells because these two genes are linked with regulating cell growth .
The research was funded by National institute of health. Alzheimer’s involves multiple biological processes, because it’s quite challenging to find effective drugs for this disease. The scientific research tells that many of the genes found in fruit flies also decline in humans as they age, suggesting they could play a role in Alzheimer’s.
Researcher’s at Harvard university and mass general Brigham discovered that people with two copies of APOE4 gene variant are extremely at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
